RE: motor coach or truck and 5th wheel

dfb,
I was going to suggest a search as well. THAT subject has been posted here many times and about three in the last week. If you think someone needs to be taken to task for a post, tell ME! Don't do it as a post especially when YOU are using the same space they did in their post for something that also does not help the OP. PM me if you need clarification! This is not just you but anyone who thinks someone needs to be corrected.

RE: ALPENLITE FIFTH WHEELS

Ask the seller for a "history" on it. They may have records of all and any work done on it. If the unit is sound then I would check with a local dealership and see if they work on them if you ever need to. If they do and you are satisfied the unit is for you, I would not let the fact the company is gone deter you. Many older units are still going strong long after the companies that made them are in the history books. Good luck.

RE: Tell me about Alaska.......

Just as I remembered it every year. Just in time for the Anchorage Policeman's Ball ( if they still do it) the snow falls around the 9th of every October. This year is no different. What global warming?

RE: Rejected Because RV over 10 Years Old

A rig over ten years is not allowed?! When I traveled pretty much full time in the 90s, I was all over the US living in my 5th wheel. It was a new 1990 Alfa with two slides. It was Alfa's first slide model they made. I moved to a small CG in Sacramento just off Watt Avenue & Hwy 50. It was a place where there were many older rigs and people living in them while they did temp work in the area. Many rigs weren't new and some were not very big either. No matter what the ages of the rigs were, the people were some of the nicest I have met. It some one asks me the age of my rig, I tell them, "I don't know. I think it is about 8 years old now." Let them do a test on it when they see it to determine that it is over their age limit.
Personally, If some one told me that my trailer was too old for use in their park, I would tell them their "HOA rules" are too strict for my use. There are just too many other CGs out there that would love to see your money right now. Pass on the one you spoke to and find a nicer park. I am sure there are many!

RE: catalytic heaters fueled by propane

Just remember that when using ANY gas type heater, especially the CAT ones. ALWAYS have a window open. One so that they don't use up the oxygen YOU need and also because a by product of the propane CAT heater is moisture and it needs an avenue to escape or it could cause mold in a closed trailer among other problems.

RE: Classic 440 towing a Classic bronco

See if the 440 can be converted to a 413. It will have ample power and torque but use less gas and is easier on the internal parts. Have a great time with that unit.

RE: Cell Service

Just remember that the *228 MUST be done from your home location or it wont work right.
I used to work for RCA Alaska way back when and it is now GCI which I am told associates with AT&T for cell service. RCA Alascom covered almost the whole state with the exception of the bigger cities. It may still be true for GCI but I would check to be sure.

RE: Removing 50 amp for 30 amp

I leave my 50 amp cord coiled in the compartment and also have a 25 foot 30 amp adapter cord. I use that when I am using just 30 amps and the 50 amp stays coiled. But if I need the 50, I just take the 50 amp out and leave the 30 amp cord in the compartment. I wouldn't make a permanent change to 30 amp for any reason.

RE: Do you lubericate your 5th wheel hitch

I had a clacking sound as I towed mine and checked with the local dealer. He said to lube around the pin where it turns inside the hitch jaws. I did and the sound went away. I didn't know that needed grease but I am glad I asked about the noise. If you don't do it yet, do it now.

RE: 54 footer

Edit your preferences so you can see the pics.
I thought that anything over 53 long was not legal on our interstates. That is the longest that I think Fruehoff (spelling?) makes and Wal*Mart and others tow. Am I wrong?

RE: GA Camping World Closing (please read)

I just got an email from the Las Vegas Camping World ( Freedom Roads )that said everything MUST go. A total inventory sale. Does that tell me they are going to close? It doesn't say so but that would be what one would think when EVERYTHING MUST GO! They took over Wheelers Las Vegas RVs a few years ago and they have been here for over 30 years and may have been the largest in the state.
